Learning can be flexible and tailored to your specific needs depending on your lifestyle and commitments. A few options to consider are:
Full-time
Wherever you choose to study you give a commitment to study 5 days a week.
Part-time
This can be anything from one day each week to part of each weekday, or perhaps a Saturday or an evening.
Open Learning
You work through a learning package at an open learning venue such as a learndirect centre or college or open learning centre, attending at times to suit yourself. Tutors will also be there to give you advice.
Independent Study
This option offers you the opportunity to work independently, but also with a mentor who can help as you need them.
Distance Learning
This is where you study from home and are provided with specially prepared learning materials such as TV and radio programmes, correspondence, videos, access to a computer network or CD-Roms.
Flexible Learning
This is designed to meet your individual needs, whether through open leaning or the Internet. It is particularly geared towards people who have other commitments such as shift-work or a family.
Modular
This means a course is divided into a number of separate units, each covering a particular aspect of the course. You can then build up these units – and the marks you get for them – usually at a pace to suit yourself.
